A Fairytale Wedding with a Modern Twist!

SO I am not usually a very sentimental person but this wedding is a big exception… from the gorgeous pastel details to the incredible natural setting at Woodend Nature Sanctuary  (home of the Audubon Naturalist Society), this wedding was like something straight out of a fairytale –  I half expected Bluebirds to swoop down and start fixing her veil! Not to mention the vegan feast, emotional toasts, and a serious dance party. And as you will soon see,  Sam & Erika resemble nothing short of a modern day prince and princess. What a wonderful day – thanks so much for letting me be a part of the joy!

And a big shout out to my fellow wedding vendors who did such a fabulous job! The simple but spectacular venue at Woodend Nature Sanctuary , amazing acoustic guitar duo Katie & Logan Acoustic Duo ,  a vegan feast that left the carnivores happy by Festive Foods, fantastic decor and flowers by Diamond Events, the wonderous music mixing of Steve Yates (steveyates@aol.com), and planning by Zevin Spears (zevin.spears@yahoo.com).

Erika & Sam in the Washington Post!

Loving that Sam & Erika’s wedding got a feature in the Washington Post ‘On Love’ section this weekend. Congratulations again you two!

Mugsly & Bowser (and their cute parents too!)

I am so swoony over these two lovebirds! We had a fabulous time walking around town shooting this engagement session, and managed not to get run over while doing so – always a good thing.  Halfway through our session we picked up their 2 rescue dogs, Mugsly and Bowser – so much fun!

Sunday Brunch with the sligo Creek stompers!

So here’s a great recipe for a gloomy Sunday morning… a house full of friends, an amazing spread of potluck dishes including earl grey lemon muffins, quiche, frittata, mango sticky rice and *ahem* nutella bread pudding (unreal) and an absolutely kickin’ band!

First we enjoyed a relaxed and delicious brunch spread and I learned all about contra dancing … which I plan to start going to asap. Anyone want to join me?

And then the party got down to business with the sligo creek stompers and their take on incredible Appalachian, bluegrass, jazz and gypsy swing music. Amazing! Check them out at www.sligocreekstompers.com .

And a massive shout out and thanks to our hosts with the mosts – Jenna and Alex! (How cute are they?)

Thanks for having us for such a fabulous morning party Jenna and Alex! I can’t wait to do it again…
